Dr. Cristian Uraga

 

As a performer,

Dr. Uraga has played the horn in various venues since the age of ten, with his debut performance being with the New York Pops in the conductor Steve Reinecke, at Carnegie hall in New York City.  He started and has performed with the Purchase Brass Quartet, which resides at SUNY Purchase College. Dr. Uraga has been regarded by many as a promising musician due to his unique expression of music and his interesting interpretations of the music that he creates. As a native New Yorker, Dr. Uraga has studied with various freelance musicians from the New York City area, but has also studied with arguably one of the most world renown horn players, Barry Tuckwell. Before coming to study horn with David Jolley at Stony Brook University, Dr. Uraga studied with Peter Reit professor of horn at The Music Conservatory at SUNY Purchase and with Eli Epstein at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee. He is an active freelance musician and has recently completed his Doctoral degree at Stony Brook University.
